Cat Themed Classroom

My daughter has had the Animal Print/Jungle themed classroom for 5-6 years. We've changed it up and added to it now and then, making the classroom more child-friendly.

Change is good though, right? This past summer I talked her into changing it completely. How could she refuse when I was willing to help her a LOT?  She finally agreed and we started kicking around what to change it to.  I kept saying, "What do you love? You are the one who is in here year after year.  You love CATS! You have a cat that is your baby."   She said "No one does a domestic cat themed classroom. I've only seen Pete the Cat classroom but I don't want just a blue cat everywhere."

No problem. We went to the classroom early one summer morning and she started cleaning and clearing out. (after the floor had been waxed and dried)  I came armed with grey, white, black, and golden yellow pasteboards and new Sharpies and I just started in. I did have her look at some cat clipart and just quickly point to the ones that she liked so I would have an idea how to proceed.

I'll be adding posts of all the things we've done for our Cat Themed Classroom over the next few months.  The students and colleagues all love it, so if you are thinking about a big change this summer, keep this one in mind. share with your cat-loving teacher friends, too.

I kept a pattern of every cat I drew so I can get them on Ebay soon, too. This will save you a lot of time. The cat patterns can be done in different colors, or all black like silhouettes.  (Wait until you see how cute these look in the windows!)

More soon.
